  • Microsoft Clarity: We collect anonymous session recordings (heatmaps, clicks, scroll behavior, and page navigation) without associating them with specific individuals. The goal is to understand general visitor behavior to optimize site usability.
  • Firebase (Firestore and/or Realtime Database): We record anonymous usage statistics, such as “like” counters, quiz suggestions, and general preferences (e.g., which quiz was displayed). These data do not contain any personally identifying information (name, email, or IP address).

2.2. Personal Data (When Voluntarily Provided)

If you choose to submit book suggestions or leave comments, you may provide:

  • Name (optional)
  • Email address (optional, for possible replies)
  • Text of your suggestion or comment

These fields are not mandatory. However, if you choose to fill them in, we will store them in our database for purposes of moderation, display, and potential response.

3. Cookies

3.1. What Are Cookies?

4. Purpose of Processing

  • Traffic and Behavior Analysis: Through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, we learn which sections are most visited, how users navigate the site, and which performance/layout improvements to implement.
  • Engagement and Anonymous Statistics: With Firebase, we track “likes” on authors/works, quiz suggestions, aggregated reading preferences, and other general metrics—without identifying individuals.
  • Continuous Improvement: The browsing and usage data are used exclusively to optimize content, fix bugs, enhance user experience, and evaluate the performance of specific pages.
  • Optional User Communication: If you provide your email and wish to receive feedback on a book suggestion or comment, we may contact you to clarify any questions. We will not use your email to send newsletters or marketing unless you have given explicit, prior consent.

5. Data Sharing

  • Analytical Service Providers: Traffic data is shared with Google (Analytics) and Microsoft (Clarity) for processing. These companies are subject to their own privacy policies and international data protection agreements.
  • Firebase: Anonymous data storage and reading occur exclusively within our Firebase projects. We do not share this database with third parties unless legally compelled or with your explicit consent.
  • Legal Obligations: We do not share personal or anonymous information with third parties, except where required by law (judicial order or competent authority) or to protect the rights of the site and its users.

6. Storage and Security

Data Retention

  • Analytical Data (Google Analytics and Clarity): Retained according to default platform settings (usually up to 26 months for Google Analytics and up to 12 months for Clarity).
  • Firebase Data: Remains as long as the site is active. If you request deletion of specific data (e.g., a book suggestion), we can remove those records upon your request.

Security Measures

  • We protect our databases (Firebase Firestore/Realtime Database) with access rules that prevent unauthorized read/write operations.
  • Administrative credentials for Firebase and analytics tools are restricted to project administrators, with multi-factor authentication enabled whenever available.
  • Connections to our servers and databases use TLS/SSL encryption.

7. User Rights

  • Access and Rectification: If you have provided personal data (name, email, or comments), you may request access to the stored information and correct any inaccuracies.
  • Deletion: You may request the deletion of your comments or suggestions, as well as the removal of your email address from our contact records.
  • Objection to Processing: Since most data we collect is anonymous, it cannot be directly linked to a specific user. However, you can block analytical cookies in your browser to partially object to tracking.

If any clause of this Policy is deemed invalid or unenforceable, the remaining clauses will remain in full force and effect. Failure to enforce any provision of this Policy does not constitute a waiver of that right.
