Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Welcome to the A Literatura Brasileira website (“we,” “our,” or “site”). This document explains how we collect, use, store, and protect any information generated by your access to and use of our site. By browsing or interacting with our pages, you agree to the practices outlined in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information Collected
2.1. Browsing Data (Non-Identifiable)
- Google Analytics: We collect aggregated data about visits, pages viewed, session duration, events (clicks, scrolls, etc.), and device information (browser, operating system, screen resolution). These records are stored on Google's servers as statistical data. We cannot identify individual visitors from these records.
- Microsoft Clarity: We collect anonymous session recordings (heatmaps, clicks, scroll behavior, and page navigation) without associating them with specific individuals. The goal is to understand general visitor behavior to optimize site usability.
- Firebase (Firestore and/or Realtime Database): We record anonymous usage statistics, such as “like” counters, quiz suggestions, and general preferences (e.g., which quiz was displayed). These data do not contain any personally identifying information (name, email, or IP address).
2.2. Personal Data (When Voluntarily Provided)
If you choose to submit book suggestions or leave comments, you may provide:
- Name (optional)
- Email address (optional, for possible replies)
- Text of your suggestion or comment
These fields are not mandatory. However, if you choose to fill them in, we will store them in our database for purposes of moderation, display, and potential response.
3. Cookies
3.1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files sent by the web server to your browser and stored on your device. They contain information that can be read by the site on subsequent visits, enabling the site to recognize preferences and improve your experience.
3.2. Types of Cookies Used
Strictly Necessary Cookies
- Purpose: Enable essential site functionalities (for example, keeping you logged in, remembering language or layout preferences).
- Retention: Typically exist only during the browsing session and are deleted when you close your browser.
- Examples:
- Language session (maintaining preference for “/pt” or “/en”).
- Quiz display settings (device-only) to prioritize quizzes based on the date.
Analytical and Performance Cookies
- Platforms: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
- Purpose: Collect anonymous data about visits (number of users, most visited pages, session duration, click/scroll events). These cookies help us understand how visitors use the site so we can make usability improvements, fix bugs, and optimize performance.
- Retention:
- Google Analytics: Stored according to configured settings (up to 26 months by default).
- Microsoft Clarity: Session recordings retained for up to 12 months (per Microsoft's policy).
- Data Collected: Anonymous device identifier, pages visited, time spent on each page, click/scroll interactions, location data (country/region, without IP details), browser type, operating system.
Functionality Cookies (Optional)
- Purpose: Save display preferences (e.g., light/dark theme) or assist in the operation of internal site widgets.
- Retention: Up to 1 year, or until the user changes the preference.
- Example: Preference for displaying the list of works versus a grid view.
Marketing and Third-Party Cookies
- Purpose: If, in the future, we integrate social plugins or remarketing services, third-party cookies may be used to display ads or recommend content.
- Retention: Varies according to each external platform's policy.
3.3. How to Manage and Disable Cookies

You can disable or delete cookies directly in your browser settings. Each browser has specific steps:
- Chrome (Desktop/Mobile):

aliteratura.com.br
.
Banner or Notice (If Implemented):
When you first visit the site, a banner or notice may inform you about cookie usage, with buttons to “Accept All” or “Manage Preferences.” If you choose to manage preferences, you can disable marketing and functionality cookies while keeping only strictly necessary and analytical cookies.
Implications of Disabling:
Disabling analytical cookies means Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity will not record your session, limiting our ability to understand site usage. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may affect basic functionalities, such as remembering language preferences or saving display settings.
4. Purpose of Processing
- Traffic and Behavior Analysis: Through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, we learn which sections are most visited, how users navigate the site, and which performance/layout improvements to implement.
- Engagement and Anonymous Statistics: With Firebase, we track “likes” on authors/works, quiz suggestions, aggregated reading preferences, and other general metrics—without identifying individuals.
- Continuous Improvement: The browsing and usage data are used exclusively to optimize content, fix bugs, enhance user experience, and evaluate the performance of specific pages.
- Optional User Communication: If you provide your email and wish to receive feedback on a book suggestion or comment, we may contact you to clarify any questions. We will not use your email to send newsletters or marketing unless you have given explicit, prior consent.
5. Data Sharing
- Analytical Service Providers: Traffic data is shared with Google (Analytics) and Microsoft (Clarity) for processing. These companies are subject to their own privacy policies and international data protection agreements.
- Firebase: Anonymous data storage and reading occur exclusively within our Firebase projects. We do not share this database with third parties unless legally compelled or with your explicit consent.
- Legal Obligations: We do not share personal or anonymous information with third parties, except where required by law (judicial order or competent authority) or to protect the rights of the site and its users.
6. Storage and Security
Data Retention
- Analytical Data (Google Analytics and Clarity): Retained according to default platform settings (usually up to 26 months for Google Analytics and up to 12 months for Clarity).
- Firebase Data: Remains as long as the site is active. If you request deletion of specific data (e.g., a book suggestion), we can remove those records upon your request.
Security Measures
- We protect our databases (Firebase Firestore/Realtime Database) with access rules that prevent unauthorized read/write operations.
- Administrative credentials for Firebase and analytics tools are restricted to project administrators, with multi-factor authentication enabled whenever available.
- Connections to our servers and databases use TLS/SSL encryption.
7. User Rights
- Access and Rectification: If you have provided personal data (name, email, or comments), you may request access to the stored information and correct any inaccuracies.
- Deletion: You may request the deletion of your comments or suggestions, as well as the removal of your email address from our contact records.
- Objection to Processing: Since most data we collect is anonymous, it cannot be directly linked to a specific user. However, you can block analytical cookies in your browser to partially object to tracking.
- Contact to Exercise Rights: To exercise rights related to privacy (access, rectification, deletion), please email privacidade@aliteratura.com.br.
- Response Time: We commit to responding to privacy requests within 30 calendar days, as required by applicable law.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time, especially due to changes in our use of analytics tools (Analytics, Clarity, or Firebase) or updates in legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes via a banner or prominent notice on the site. We recommend reviewing this document periodically to stay informed.
9. Final Provisions
If any clause of this Policy is deemed invalid or unenforceable, the remaining clauses will remain in full force and effect. Failure to enforce any provision of this Policy does not constitute a waiver of that right.
